WORKSHOP ON BOOK 53

 In Summer 2023 the RSCDS published Book 53, a volume of 24 dances with instructions,
music, photos and information about the origins of the dances, as well as details of the
devisors and of the bands which recorded the accompanying music.
The book (£17.00) and the accompanying two CDs (£14.00 each, Vol 2 currently out of stock)
are available from the RSCDS – Fran Smith will be happy to order these for you via the
Branch Shop – contact shop@rscds-southwales.org.uk

The dances were selected from a large number of dances submitted by Branches from all around
the world and tried out by a variety of SCD groups. The final selection consists of new dances
and also dances devised less recently but never previously published by the Society.
These include some long-standing favourites, such as Schiehallion or The Luckenbooth Brooch.

RSCDS South Wales is putting on a workshop to give anyone who might be interested a chance
to try out/learn/remind themselves of a selection of these dances, both old and new.
We aim to cover about nine or ten dances in the course of the afternoon.
We hope that some of these dances will become regular features on our local dance
programmes over the coming months and years.
ALL WELCOME!
- regardless of your level of experience or confidence. There will be full
instructions and the opportunity to walk dances through.
